Впервые украинский моряк был удостоен награды IMO за отвагу на море
Член экипажа танкера ANUKET AMBER (IMO 9395733, флаг Панамы), одессит Михаил МИРОНЮК отмечен благодарностью Международной морской организации (IMO) за решительность и лидерские качества, проявленные во время пиратского нападения на судно.
На танкер напали пираты, когда он находился в Западной Африке. Во время атаки пираты взяли в плен часть экипажа (в том числе капитана, старшего помощника и старшего механика) и скрылись с ними. На борту судна осталось только два офицера — второй механик и второй помощник капитана одессит Михаил МИРОНЮК (в этой должности в рейсе он был впервые). Двое суток Михаил самостоятельно вел судно, отремонтировал поврежденное пиратами радиооборудования, установил связь с местными властями и договорился с французским военным фрегатом о сопровождении судна в безопасное место.
В ноябре 2019 года должна была состояться церемония награждения, но её перенесли. А в 2020 году свои коррективы внес COVID-19.
Как отметили в ПРМТУ, свою награду Михаил получил из рук Морского посла доброй воли IMO в Украине, первого заместителя председателя Профсоюза работников морского транспорта Украины Олега ГРИГОРЮКА.
Впервые за 13 лет существования награды IMO «За отвагу на море» удостоенным её стал украинский моряк.
