What can you tell about mooring operations? During mooring operations the sailor keeps watch at one of the mooring station. He executes the bosun`s (the officer) commands. The bosun (or the officer) tells to stand by for mooring. Then he tells to have the heaving line ready. When the ship approaches the shore the sailors throw the heaving line on the shore. The boatman on the shore catches the heaving line. Then the sailors passes the head line (rope) and the stern line ashore. They also pass ashore bow and stern springs and breast lines. They heave them up and make fast. Then they heave up all the ropes alongside to put the ship close to the berth and make them fast.
